# Bonfire Campus Terms of Service for Students and Schools

> The terms that govern your use of Bonfire Campus, including student accounts, school-managed organizations, Activities, Alert, and acceptable use rules.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Bonfire Campus, including Bonfire Campus Activities, Bonfire Campus Alert, and any related websites, apps, and services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

**Effective date:** 9/30/26

## 1. About the Service

Bonfire Campus is a platform that helps students from middle school through college connect with fellow students at the same school, create calendars, and keep up with their schoolwork. The Service includes:

* **Bonfire Campus Activities**, which lets students join club and activity groups to stay up to date and communicate with leaders.
* **Bonfire Campus Alert**, which lets teachers share classroom announcements with students. The Service may also send assignment reminders and calendar updates.
* **Organization features**, which let schools and school districts create an organization, connect a Google Workspace Directory or Microsoft 365 Directory, and automatically create staff and student accounts.

Bonfire Campus is still in development. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time.

## 2. Eligibility and Accounts

The Service is intended for students in middle school through college, and for teachers, staff, and administrators of participating schools.

* If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, or through an account provided by your school.
* Students under 13 may only use the Service through an account created or authorized by their school or with verifiable parental consent, as required by applicable law.
* You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
* Notify us promptly at the Bonfire Campus Support Portal if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

## 3. School and Organization Accounts

Schools and school districts ("Organizations") can manage the accounts of their students and staff. By using an account associated with an Organization, you acknowledge and agree that:

* **Domain verification and account enlistment.** An Organization that verifies its domain can enlist existing Bonfire Campus accounts that use that domain into the Organization. **Your permission is not required for this to happen.** Once enlisted, your account becomes subject to the Organization's settings and policies.
* **Enforced settings.** Organizations can enforce settings on user accounts, including requiring sign-in through Microsoft SSO, Google Workspace SSO, or both.
* **Directory provisioning.** Organizations that connect a Google Workspace Directory or Microsoft 365 Directory can automatically create, update, and manage staff and student accounts.
* **Supported sign-in.** Custom client IDs are not supported for SSO connections.
* **Organization responsibility.** Organizations are responsible for obtaining any consents required from students, parents, or guardians, and for complying with laws and policies that apply to them, including student privacy laws.

If you use the Service on behalf of an Organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that Organization.

## 4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

* Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate any person.
* Post or share content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate for a school community.
* Impersonate another person, including students, teachers, or staff.
* Share another person's personal information without their permission.
* Cheat, plagiarize, or violate your school's academic integrity policies.
* Send spam, unsolicited messages, or misleading announcements.
* Access, or attempt to access, accounts, groups, or data you are not authorized to use.
* Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to bypass the security of the Service.
* Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or collect data from the Service.

Your school's code of conduct may also apply to your use of the Service. Organizations and Bonfire Campus may take action on violations, including removing content or suspending accounts.

## 5. Your Content

You keep ownership of the content you create or share on the Service, such as messages, calendar entries, and posts ("Your Content"). You grant Bonfire Campus a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service.

You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to share it. We may remove content that violates these Terms or the policies of your Organization.

## 6. Communications and Notifications

By using the Service, you agree to receive communications related to your account and school activities, including classroom announcements through Bonfire Campus Alert, assignment reminders, calendar updates, and messages from Activities leaders. Some communications may be required by your Organization and cannot be turned off.

## 7. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our [Privacy Policy](/privacy-policy), which explains how we collect, use, and share information, including information about students. When the Service is used by an Organization, we process student information on behalf of that Organization and in accordance with our agreement with it.

## 8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, logos, and trademarks, is owned by Bonfire Campus and its licensors. These Terms do not give you any right to use the Bonfire Campus name or branding. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by law.

## 9. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. If your account is managed by an Organization, your Organization may control whether your account can be deleted.

We or your Organization may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if needed to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 5, 8, 10, 11, and 12, will survive.

## 10. Disclaimers

Bonfire Campus is under active development, and we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that reminders, notifications, or calendar updates will always be delivered on time. You remain responsible for tracking your own assignments and deadlines.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed \$100.

## 12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in United States of America, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

## 13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and notify users or Organizations through the Service or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
